I’ve always been a fan of iron sights, but lately, the red dot revolution has piqued my interest. Especially for concealed carry pistols, a red dot sight can significantly improve acquisition speed and accuracy. However, most red dots felt bulky on my micro-compact carry gun. Enter the Trijicon RMRcc, a red dot built specifically for these smaller pistols.

Tiny Terror, Big Performance

The first thing that struck me about the RMRcc was its size. It’s ridiculously compact, fitting perfectly on the slide of my Sig Sauer P365 without any printing or snags during holstering. This miniaturization doesn’t compromise durability. Trijicon is known for its bombproof red dots, and the RMRcc feels every bit as tough. It’s built to withstand the bumps and scrapes of everyday carry.

Zeroing In

Mounting the RMRcc was a breeze. My pistol required a specific adapter plate, but the sight itself attached quickly and securely. Zeroing was a painless process, with easily adjustable dials for windage and elevation. I was pleasantly surprised by the clarity of the 6.5 MOA red dot. While a smaller dot might be ideal for target shooting, the 6.5 MOA provides a perfect balance between precision and quick acquisition, especially for self-defense situations.

Range Day Revelations

The real test came at the range. The red dot made a world of difference. My sight picture was lightning fast, with the dot appearing instantly when I presented the pistol. My groupings tightened up noticeably, and follow-up shots were a breeze. Even with one-handed firing drills, the red dot stayed visible and helped me maintain control.

Not Without Its Quirks

While I was blown away by the RMRcc’s performance, there are a couple of things to consider. The biggest drawback is the unique mounting footprint. Unlike the more common RMSc pattern, the RMRcc requires specific adapter plates for most pistols. This can limit your options when choosing a compatible firearm. Additionally, the battery compartment is located on the underside of the sight, which necessitates removing it from the mount for replacement. It’s a minor inconvenience, but worth noting.

What Folks Are Saying

Online reviews for the RMRcc are generally positive. Users praise its durability, clear dot, and exceptional performance on micro-compact pistols. However, some echo my concerns about the limited mounting options and the slightly awkward battery replacement process.

Alternatives to Consider

If the RMRcc’s footprint is a dealbreaker, there are other excellent micro red dot options. The Shield SMSc and the Holosun 407K are both popular choices, offering similar performance and a more common RMSc footprint.

Finding the Perfect Fit

The Trijicon RMRcc is a fantastic red dot sight for those seeking top-notch performance in a compact package. It’s perfect for concealed carry pistols and offers a significant advantage in terms of speed and accuracy. However, be sure to check compatibility with your specific firearm before diving in. If footprint isn’t a major concern, the RMRcc is a stellar choice for those who prioritize a miniaturized red dot sight without sacrificing ruggedness and reliability.
